Army overview
The goal of the Imperial Army was surface superiority during instances of ground warfare, and were equipped with the means of seizing and defending a planet. While the Imperial Navy controlled space, the Imperial Army led assaults, established bridgeheads, and was capable of deploying the heavy equipment and sustaining the long operations required to gain control of planets. As such, the Army encompassed various infantry, armored cavalry, special forces, artillery operators, engineers, scouts, and drivers.
Aside from this, the Army also had the role of eliminating military threats to the established Imperial political order on planetary surfaces or other inhabited complexes. If on an enemy planet, the Imperial Army was to engage and defeat any local military force that was capable of resistance in order to ensure the transition of control of the planet towards the Imperials. The Army when engaged in operations could expect support from the Imperial Navy during the initial drop phase, which included suppressing fire against particularly hard or well-armed targets, as well as "force reduction attacks" meant to destroy enemy assets capable of interfering with reorganization after the drop. The Army during later phases of an operation was also allowed to pre-plan for orbital bombardments on specific targets. If the operation proved vital enough, the Army would even work together with naval units on the ground to provide fire support upon being called upon. For garrison duty, their role was largely the same, although they were expected to provide firepower and backup for Intelligence operatives whenever called upon. Other surface missions undertaken by the Imperial Army included utterly obliterating an enemy possession, engaging enemy infantry and mechanized units, providing strategic insertion of commandos or expeditionary forces, securing control of a key planetary resource or supply line, and/or holding an objective and destroying enemy attackers attempting to reclaim it.
The Imperial Army can be broken down into three main parts: The Imperial Marines (IMF), Imperial Army Division (IAD), and the Imperial Security Forces (ISF) with the Imperial Commando Corp (ICC) being a semi autonomous fourth part.

Imperial Marines
The Imperial Marines serve as the spearhead for any military operation. They utilize heavily armored tanks and walkers to create a beachhead on planets so that the main Imperial Divisions can begin landing and taking over the invasion. The marines are found on the frontlines of any conflict, and account for 20% of the armies makeup (20 System armies).
Imperial Marine: The standard marine, the Imperial Marines duties are to serve as frontline troops during invasions and to defend ships should they be boarded. They are selected from candidates of the Imperial Army after they have finished basic training, and are put through more rigorous training including Zero G, drop training, and enhanced survival training.
Imperial Galactic Marine: The Imperial Galactic Marines are a specialized unit within the Marines that are selected from the best of the best in the Marine training; only outdone by the Nova Marines and their compatriots in the Recon Marines. They constitute 5% of the Army and 1/4th of the Marines (5 System Armies). Squads within the Galactic Marines are equip with various weapons, being able to select and customize their weapons without having to receive permission from their Armorum or Commanding General.
Imperial Recon Marine: The Imperial Recon Marines serve as the main reconnaissance force for Imperial invasions on hostile worlds. These men, although selected from Galactic Marines, are rarely found on the frontlines as they are much to valuable to be allowed to suffer the attrition that Marine forces face. However, should they be found on the frontline, only the Nova Marines are more deadly. Known to strike from distance, the Recon Marines are renown for their marksman skills, and their ability to lay traps for enemy combatants. An ambush by Recon Marines is swift, with many falling before they can raise their weapon. The Recon Marines constitute 4% of the Army (4 System Armies).
Imperial Heavy Marines: Utilized alongside their standard marine brothers, the Heavy Marines differ from the standard rank and file marine in that they are normally equip with anti-vehicle, anti-infrastructure, and mass scale anti-infantry weapons; along with having thick armor with power armor attachments to allow them greater strength and maneuverability.
Imperial Nova Marine: The Imperial Nova Marines are the most elite of the Marine forces, their mere presence making some worlds surrender after their exploits on previous planets reached their ears. The Nova Marines carry a reputation of absolute brutality to those who resist, and a merciful conquer to those who surrender; the velvet glove of the marine forces.

Imperial Army Division
The Imperial Army Division comprises the bulk of the Imperial Army, numbering 50 System Armies. They are the bulk of the invasion forces, coming in once a beachhead is secure and landing of heavy walkers, tanks, and bases can begin. Along with fighting pitch battles, they are stationed on outer rim worlds to serve as the defensive forces and bring peace to the Empire.
Imperial Trooper: The bulk of the army, the Imperial Troopers are trained from a young age to server the Emperor and Empire in any endeavor she should take. After basic training, troopers enter either infantry, cavalry, or aerial school. From here each soldier is honed into a role that fits him the best, and those deserving are moved into different branches of the army.
Imperial Shock Trooper: Also known as Drop Troopers, the Shock Trooper core is used as an initial strike force. Using Drop Pods, they can be dropped as a first wave to help establish a beach head with the Marines, or as a reinforcing unit on Amy or Marine forces.
Imperial Stormtrooper: The face of the army, the Stormtrooper Core is one of the elite forces within the Army. Mixed in with Army units, the Stormtroopers gained their name from some of the first Imperial unites that stormed the capital of the System Lords, fighting room to room. A position of prestige as much as it is capability, to be a Stormtrooper is to be considered one of the best soldiers in the Imperial Army.
Imperial Heavy Trooper: The Elite of the standard troopers, the Heavy Troopers are the teeth of the Imperial war machine. Equip with heavy weaponry and given better enhancements to their weapons and armor, they are used for heavy frontline fighting in infantry platoons. As well as heavier weapons, they are equip with other equipment such as jetpacks to allow for greater mobility on the battlefield.
Imperial Demolition Trooper: The Demolition Troopers work with vehicles to take out enemy vehicles and hardpoints. They are selected from the best candidates the Heavy Trooper training, and included in much of the Recon Trooper training. They were fierce fighters, and could hold their own on the frontlines in infantry combat.
Imperial Recon Trooper: Serving alongside the Recon Marines when necessary, the Recon Troopers serve as a skirmishers and recon for the main body of the of the army. They are excellent marksmen, and are trained in a multitude of explosive weapons. The Recon troopers are giving extensive survival training, as it is possible for them to be in the field for weeks at a time, and get stuck behind enemy lines should the enemy advance past their positions.

Imperial Security Forces
The Imperial Security Forces are the men that take over after a planet has been pacified and Imperial rule of law can be enforced. The Security Forces are a mix of Imperials and Auxiliary forces from conquered planets. Only those who are highly vetted, and loyal to the Empire are allowed into the Security Forces, many considered to be changed by the training they go through. They comprise 30 System armies strong.
Auxiliary Security Force: Drafted from local forces, the Auxiliary Security Forces served as the forces on the streets of pacified planets, making it so Imperial Soldiers were not in the direct line of fire day in and day out. Given minimal training and equipment, many of the members of the force provide much of their own equipment. The auxiliary serve as a buffer between the Imperials and the conquered populations.
Imperial Security Force: Imperial Soldiers not seen fit for front line combat but still able to serve the Empire, the Imperial Security Force is the Iron Fist to the Velvet glove that the auxiliary provides. When a show of force is needed, the Imperial Security Forces are the ones sent in to show that the Empire still holds power.
Imperial Riot Force: Deployed when populations become too rebellious, the Riot Force is comprised of highly trained and vetted auxiliary. Working along with Imperial Security Forces, these men are equipped by the Imperials with superior gear to allow them to fight insurgents and rioters of any kind.
Imperial Security Commandos: Deployed in the worst of circumstances, the Imperial Security Commandos work with the Imperial Security Forces when the populace needs to be reminded who they serve. Consisting of veteran members of the army who have left front line combat, the Commandos can pacify entire cities, and bring planets to their knees if deployed.

Imperial Commando Corp
The Imperial Commando Corp is the best of the best, and is not completely under the control of the Army. Under the command of the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Military, they are attached with the Army and Navy equally, but fall under the Armies domain. They are the most trained, and the best equipped fighting force in the Military, and serve different purposes.
Imperial Commandos: Pulled from the Imperial Army Divisions top percent of recruits in Heavy Trooper, Recon, and Demolition training; the Imperial Commandos are the best of the best from the army. Serving as a battlefield commanders top line troops, they are deployed to areas where enemy resistance is the strongest.
Ghost Commandos: Pulled from the top recruits of the Recon Marines, the Ghost Commandos serve as the top rate saboteurs in the Imperial Military. Going on the most dangerous of missions, and inserted with other commando units to carry out missions. They create havoc in enemy lines, and destroy anything the Empire orders them to. Ghosts have even been known to run suicide missions, taking every man they could with them.
STORM Commandos: Special Tactics, Operations, and Recon Marine Commandos are the top tier of the Commando order and are the best of the best. They are selected from the Galactic and Nova Marines, and only 10% of those selected normally pass their training. STORM Commandos goes back to before the founding the Empire, a unit created by an early leader of the Givosion Republic before they even left the home solar system. Serving as the Elite Strike force, they commonly lead in Ghost to launch their attacks, but do not take part in the actual attack; their lives more important that any soldier less than a rank of General.
Purge Commandos: No one truly knows where the Purge Commandos come from, but they are known across Imperial space. The Purge Commandos are sent in by the Imperial Military to put down dissent and remove obstacles that stand in the way of the Imperial Power. Entire populations of cities have been massacred by the Purge Commandos, and leaders of foreign nations have fallen from their rifles. When they are deployed, entire populations run from them; and even some of the Imperial Military fear them as a tool for the Emperor to wipe out opposition to him.
